you win or lose, but it's how you play the game that really counts.' We
often forget how true that is and FUNdamental golf teaches all of us ... How
to play the game! "FUNdamental Golf is an important program
that will keep golf the respected sport that it is. The program will teach
the younger generation the values of the game and how to act on and off the
course, which is vital for life and becoming a well rounded adult."
What is Fundamental Golf?
•This program will
equip the junior with the knowledge and
ability to play golf in a courteous, fast and safe manner, no matter what
their golf skill level may be.
•The emphasis here is
on behavior of the golfers versus
the swing mechanics.
•This program will
put the SWSPGA on the map as leaders
in focusing opportunities for young people to develop into good citizens
through the game of golf.
•The words, “spirit
of the game”, “safety”, “consideration
of other players” and “pace of play” are listed in Section 1, page 1
of the USGA Rules of Golf.
The SWSPGA will be a great model for others to protect the integrity of golf and change the direction of other youth sports with our emphasis on how to play a game as it was intended, not just improvement of their golfing skills.
•In
today’s atmosphere and the negative news surrounding all sports, we
believe we will have sponsors, publicity, and public support galore. But
more importantly, we will have a great impact on others- juniors and adults
alike.
